July News
As we reach the end of a fantastic school year, we want to look back at an incredibly busy, active, and sunny month of July. We are so proud of all our pupils for their hard work, excellent manners, and brilliant behaviour on all our recent trips.
Here is a look back at what we have been up to!
🎢 Thrills and Spills at Zip World and Touring Betws-y-Coed
Year 3-6 pupils had an absolute blast at Zip World! They spent a high-energy day bouncing up on the giant nets and racing down the forest coaster. Everyone showed great courage, and the pupils were praised for their excellent behaviour throughout the day. Well done, everyone! That was followed by a trip to Betws-y-Coed, where the children got to be tourists for the day. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their ice creams in the glorious sunshine, showing excellent manners and behaviour.
Zoo Fun
Dosbarth Melynllyn enjoyed a fantastic day out at the Zoo learning about all the animals and also having some fun time at in the play area at the end of the day.
⚡️ Learning About Green Energy at RWE Hydro Plant
Dosbarth Geirionydd and Dulyn took an educational tour of the local RWE Hydro Power Station. The children learned all about site safety, how the factory machinery works, and how natural water flow is turned into electricity. A huge thank you to Rob for being such an informative tour guide!
🪴 Green Fingers in the Garden
During Geirionydd’s final gardening session, our young environmentalists took part in a brilliant variety of nature activities. They examined local moths, helped set up conservation tunnels for dormice, and planted small oak trees for the future. We send a massive thank you to Sue for organising such wonderful activities for us over the past few weeks!
☀️ A Perfect Finale at Manorafon Farm Park
What a perfect way to end the school year! Dosbarth Crafnant enjoyed a wonderful day out at Manorafon. The weather was beautiful, and the children were an absolute credit to the school. We are incredibly proud of them all!
🏉 Teamwork at the Dyffryn Conwy Rugby Festival
Some of our Yr5 and 6 pupils gave 100% effort at the Dyffryn Conwy Touch Rugby Fun Festival. It was wonderful to see such fantastic teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship on display. Spectacular work, team!
📚 Ready for the Summer Reading Challenge?
Eirian from Llandudno Library paid us a visit to launch this year’s Summer Reading Challenge. Leaflets have been sent home with all the details. Who is up for the challenge? It is a fantastic way to keep reading skills sharp over the holidays.
🥵 Keeping Cool in the Heatwave
Dosbarth Crafnant did their best to keep cool during the recent scorching temperatures! Sadly, the extreme heat meant we had to cancel our traditional Sports Day, but we didn't let that spoil the fun. Instead, everyone enjoyed a refreshing ice lolly to cool down!
We still managed to get out onto the field to share some sports activities together the following week. While we missed the company of our Year 6 pupils who were in their prospective secondary schools our but some of our Year 5 pupils did an amazing job supporting the younger children and helping Mrs Lloyd Owen with the equipment. Thank you, Year 5!
A fun-filled final week!
During the final week, we had a lot of fun to finish the year. The children of Dosbarth Geirionydd had a water fight on the field and absolutely loved soaking each other and the staff. It was also an opportunity to say goodbye to Year 6, and a special farewell service was held by them before they had the opporunity to watch a movie at the cinema and enjoy treats together. A talent show was also held, and it was lovely to see the children sharing their skills– we have very talented children at the school. We saw dancers, gymnasts, singers, dog trainers, and also some fantastic creative work.
To finish the year and the term, a fun session was held on the field, with Year 6 children leading a variety of activities and games. Parents came in to do face painting, and to finish the day, the children had a party. Thank you very much to Trefriw Community Council for their generous gift of £200 towards our party food this year.
On our final day, Rob from RWE came to present prizes to the children of Dosbarth Dulyn and Geirionydd as part of the Logo Design competition. Well done children on your work and to Benji and Phoebe for winning the competition. We also had another opportunity to say goodbye to Year 6 at the end of the day, wishing them well in their secondary schools in September.
That brings an end to a very busy and bustling term and year, with everyone ready for a well-deserved break over the summer…. before starting all over again in September!
