October News
It's almost the end of another half term and the time has flown! Everyone has been very busy once again at Ysgol Dyffryn yr Enfys.
Dosbarth Eigiau
It is lovely to see our little nursery children settled in so well and happy in their new class. They have been busy investigating their environment around the school by finding magnetic objects and some that are not. They have also been learning about dinosaurs and have been completing a variety of interesting tasks including creating patterns and developing their fine motor skills , creating dinosaurs out of 2D shapes and developing their imagination in the small world area. Following that they have been investigating Autumn and have been out looking for fallen leaves and naming all the colours they saw around them.
Dosbarth Crafnant
Crafnant Class have been experiencing a variety of Outdoor Learning experiences with Alys who has been leading weekly Forest School sessions with the children. They have been painting with mud and building homes for the forest animals. In addition to that the children have been very busy learning new things in class. They have been learning about 2-digit numbers, creating patterns with natural resources, looking at Jackson Pollock's work and sorting and matching objects through play.
Dosbarth Melynllyn
The children had the opportunity to go back in time to the Victorian Era for the morning when they were part of a presentation by Conwy Archives. They had the opportunity to dress up like children of the time and learn a lot about what school was like during the period. I'm sure they are proud that they live in this age after a taste of the Victorian Age! They have also been busy planning a visit to Llanrwst to learn a little bit about the town and to learn about Llywelyn our last Governor.
Dosbarth Geirionydd and Dulyn
Year 6 had the opportunity to spend a taster day at Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy. They had the opportunity to get to know some of the children from other schools in the catchment area and an opportunity to see a bit of the school to start preparing them for September 2025. While Year 6 was at Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy the Y5 children went out on the school field to collect apples. Following that they had the opportunity to weigh and sort the apples before giving them to the cook to prepare a delicious apple crumble! We had a particularly good assembly from Dosbarth Geironydd introducing famous people to the school. It was a pleasure to see the children confidently speaking in front of the school in their best Welsh. The children in Dosbarth Dulyn and Geirionydd have also been busy learning about Wales. They have been researching facts about Cardiff, have been developing their knowledge of electric circuits by creating torches for going on a walk in Snowdonia and have been developing their creative skills by performing Hen Wlad fy Nhadau in different ways. Members from Caru Dolgarrog also came to lead a lantern making session with Years 5/6 for a walk through the village on November 2nd to remember those who lost their lives in the Dolgarrog Dam Disaster.
To finish the half term a Thanksgiving Service was held in Capel Tal y Bont and it was lovely to have the opportunity to see the children give thanks by singing and reciting. We are also holding a Christmas Fair at the school on November 21st between 5pm-7pm and everyone is very welcome to join us on the night.
