September News
What a fantastic and busy start to the new school term! The children have settled in brilliantly and have already been enjoying so many exciting learning experiences. Here is a look at everything we have been up to this September.
Special Visit: Tŷ Gobaith
We were delighted to welcome Becky from Tŷ Gobaith to the school. The children had the opportunity to hear about the fantastic and incredible work the hospice does, alongside discussing how we can all help to support their mission. Thank you very much, Becky!
Dosbarth Eigiau
It was wonderful to welcome our brand new Nursery pupils to Dosbarth Eigiau. They have been very busy experimenting in the learning areas, making new friends, and starting to settle well into their new school.
Dosbarth Crafnant
Our young explorers have been diving deep into the world of Dinosaurs!
- Science Investigation: The children have been investigating friction to discover the best way for a dinosaur to slide down a mountain—testing whether an icy surface or a rough surface works best!
- Digital Skills: They have also been developing their digital skills by using JIT5 to design and draw their own dinosaurs.
Dosbarth Melynllyn
Dinosaurs are a big theme here too! The children have been incredibly busy exploring their various learning areas:
- Lego Challenge: Putting creativity to the test to see exactly what can be created from a single bucket full of Lego.
- Aled Afal: Sharing weekend news and chatting between Aled Afal and Mr Dino!
- Language Skills: Practising reading and writing simple sentences using dinosaur information. Some of them have also created creative dinosaurs out of 2D shapes or pasta!
- Numeracy: Reinforcing counting skills by creating Numicon Dinosaurs and discovering their mathematical value.
Dosbarth Dulyn a Dosbarth Geirionydd
Interactive Live Music: 'Gwnewch Sŵn!'
The children thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic virtual live performance by the Gwnewch Sŵn crew! We hope the band inspires the children to try out music lessons here at school. Go for it, kids!
Outdoor Learning: 'Gwneud Traciau' (Years 3 & 4)
Sue from the Gwneud Traciau Dolgarrog project came to work with a group of children from Dosbarth Dulyn. They had a lovely time in the great outdoors collecting leaves, sorting them, and learning their names before creating beautiful leaf crowns.
Art & Community Walk
Over the next few weeks, Dosbarth Dulyn's Art activity task will be to create sculptures of their heroes. To find inspiration, they went for a walk around Dolgarrog to look for statues with local features.
Celebrating Owain Glyndŵr Day
The children of Dosbarth Geirionydd have been celebrating Owain Glyndŵr Day by learning about the history of this national hero and proudly displaying his flag in the classroom.
Year 5
While the Year 6 children were away for the day at Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy, Year 5 were very busy in the school garden! They were hard at work collecting, counting, and weighing fresh apples from the school apple trees. The apples have been given to Anti Helen the cook, and everyone is eagerly looking forward to a delicious apple tart or cake from her!
Year 6
Our oldest pupils had a busy and exciting day visiting Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy as part of their transition work! They got a wonderful taste of high school life. A big thank you to Miss Roberts for supervising them, and huge congratulations to the children for their excellent behaviour throughout the day!
School Council
We are very proud to introduce our new School Council for 2026/27! We are really looking forward to seeing their great ideas develop and shape school life over the coming year.
